BIOGRAPHY
Julien Boudet is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges photography, sculpture, and installation. His practice explores the aesthetics of consumerism, luxury branding, and counterfeit culture, often interrogating the visual codes of desire and status in contemporary society. Boudet is known for recontextualizing iconic symbols—from high-end fashion and sports cars to bootleg materials—within scenes of dysfunction, decay, and collapse.
With a background in fashion and design, Boudet’s work reflects a critical understanding of image-making and aspirational culture. He frequently blurs the boundaries between the authentic and the fake, staging compositions that challenge the viewer’s perception of value, originality, and meaning. His visual language is sharp, layered, and provocative, exposing the contradictions of late capitalism while reflecting on the tension between material culture and systemic instability.
Boudet received his BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York in 2013. His work has been exhibited internationally, including solo and group exhibitions at institutions and galleries such as MoMA, New York; Arsenal Contemporary, New York; Stems Gallery, Brussels; Le Mur de Marais, Paris; and Burberry flagship locations in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. Blue Error at Volery Gallery marks his first solo exhibition in the Middle East.
