BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1988, Laura Garcia Karras pursued her education at the La Cambre school in Brussels and later at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she successfully completed her studies in 2015.

In her artistic endeavors, Laura Garcia Karras delves into the interconnected themes of forgetting, the passage of time, and memory, both in her creative process and the visual forms she brings to life. Her approach involves a meticulous and time-consuming technique, characterized by the layering of successive elements, with each layer gradually obscuring the one beneath it. The vibrant manifestation of colors on the canvas is a key aspect of her work. The artist values slowness, as it enables her to imbue images with substance, rescuing them from the relentless current of our constant perception.

The roots of Laura Garcia Karras' inspiration trace back to a childhood moment when she encountered a fossil, triggering an epiphany about the lost past embedded in that stone. This pivotal experience shapes her artistic vision, leading her towards a focused exploration of nature in her representations.
